Kingston Area History – prototype
Settled by the Dutch in the early 1600s, Kingston was one of the first three Dutch settlements in New York State along with Albany and New York City. During the Revolutionary War in 1777, Kingston was named the first capital of New York. The City and surrounding area boast a wide array of historic sites and museums ranging from the Dutch era, through the Rev War, to the industrial revolution, and beyond.
