Kingston Area Dining Guide – Hudson Valley Breweries, Wineries, and Distilleries

Exploring Breweries, Wineries, and Distilleries of the Mid-Hudson Valley

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of the Mid-Hudson Valley, New York, lies a treasure trove of artisanal delights — an array of breweries, wineries, and distilleries that beckon both connoisseurs and explorers to taste the valley’s essence in every glass. This region, rich in history and natural beauty, has blossomed into a haven for those seeking unique libations and unforgettable experiences.

Brewery Bounty: Crafted with Care

The Mid-Hudson Valley’s breweries are a testament to the art of brewing, each sip a story of passion and innovation. From hoppy ales to rich stouts, these establishments offer a diverse range of flavors and styles, appealing to both the casual beer enthusiast and the seasoned aficionado.

With a commitment to quality and creativity, Keegan Ales is a beloved watering hole offering a variety of handcrafted beers along with live music, trivia, events and a vibrant atmosphere in Kingston. Also in Kingston, are the newly-opened Dear Kingston, with a craft beer bar, and West Kill Brewing, utilizing locally-sourced ingredients — both in Midtown.

Hudson Valley Brewery in Beacon is known for its boundary-pushing sour and wild ales, and its creative and flavorful offerings, while Arrowood Farms in Accord uses ingredients grown onsite for their sustainably-minded farm brewery. Hudson Ale Works in Highland is a small, family-owned brewery with a welcoming atmosphere and rotating selection of craft beers. And Hudson Brewing Company, tucked away in the city of Hudson, offers a laid-back vibe and a range of unique and flavorful beers.

Wine Wonderland: Vineyards and Vintages

Vineyards dot the landscape, their rows of vines embracing the sun-dappled hills. The Mid-Hudson Valley’s wineries have perfected the art of winemaking, producing varietals that rival those of renowned wine regions. Visitors can indulge in wine tastings that unveil the unique terroir of the valley, where vineyards like Benmarl Winery in Marlboro — one of the oldest vineyards in America, and the renowned estate at Millbrook Vineyards & Winery stand as testaments to the region’s viticultural prowess.

Accordion Wines is a newer small-batch vin naturel made using traditional methods in Accord. Whitecliff Vineyard & Winery in Gardiner, known for its sustainable practices, the cozy Robibero Winery in New Paltz with breathtaking views, and Ravenscroft Farm in Hudson, focusing on organic and biodynamic practices, all add to the local libation landscape.

Spiritual Elixirs: Distinctive Distilleries

For those seeking something stronger, the distilleries of the Mid-Hudson Valley offer a journey into the realm of spirits. Crafted with meticulous care and time-honored techniques, the region’s distilleries create an array of libations, from smooth whiskies to aromatic gins.

Coppersea Distilling in New Paltz produces small-batch spirits using traditional methods and locally-sourced ingredients, resulting in a distinctive range of whiskies and brandies that you can enjoy just a few steps off the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery in Gardiner is a pioneer in the region, producing a variety of spirits using locally-grown grains, while the newer Hudson House Distillery in West Park boats spectacular views in a historic estate on the Hudson River and creates limited batch spirits and craft cocktails.

Each selection invites guests to experience the alchemy of distillation, producing spirits that capture the essence of the valley’s heritage.

A Tasting Tour Awaits: Uncover the Flavors of the Mid-Hudson Valley

Embarking on a tasting tour through the Mid-Hudson Valley is a sensory adventure that marries history, craftsmanship, and the bounties of the land. Each sip, whether it be a crisp beer, a velvety wine, or a finely-distilled spirit, tells a tale of the region’s dedication to its craft. As you traverse the charming landscapes and welcoming establishments, you’ll discover that the Mid-Hudson Valley’s breweries, wineries, and distilleries are more than places to enjoy a libation; they are gateways to an enchanting journey through flavor and culture.
