Highlighted Things to Do In Kingston, NY for 5/25-5/30

May is flying by like it does every year with tons of fun things to do here in the Hudson Valley and this week is adding even more entertainment to the list.  Whether you’re interested in community events, live music, or if outdoor recreation is your thing, there will be an event on our list of ‘Things to Do’ that will pique your interest.

Music

What a great time to enjoy some live music outdoors! The Tom Prettys and Mick Lynch Live are performing their tunes over at the Grand Cru while Olivia Ellen Lloyd, Daniel Marc and Grease Trap , are bringing their best to the Pearl Moon. The mellow sounds of the Regusis/Horton Quartet w/ Lew Scott & Jeff Siegel are also on this week’s music docket at Lydia’s Cafe.

Community

You can find out what’s happening in local and state government that affects our community and submit your own questions at NYS Senator Michelle Hinchey’s Virtual Town Hall. Additionally, the Town of Ulster is holding its own  Community Conversations sessions to understand what its citizens would like to discuss as well. The Kingston Unity Basketball League Kickoff Rally certainly sounds like a great way for members of our community to get together, have fun, and get to know one another.  This year, there will not be a Memorial Day parade, however there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony held at Kingston City Hall to commemorate those who have fallen while serving our country.

Markets and tours

This is a great time to visit a local farm, grab some plants and become a farmer yourself and you can do that at the Plant Sales & Family Fun at Seed Song Farm event held each weekend until the end of June.  Of course you can also buy some local produce and goods at our two stellar farmers’ markets, one uptown at the Kingston NY Farmers Market and one downtown at  The Kingston Waterfront Farmers Market. Kingston’s Waterfront is also a great place to explore from the water and the Hudson River Maritime Museum is the place to start. Their Rondout Lighthouse Tour and their Industrial Waterfront Boat Tour are just a couple of ways to learn about the history of this extremely unique waterfront area!
