13th Annual Kayak Festival
Kenco and the City of Kingston Parks and Recreation department held another successful Kayak Festival at Kingston Point Beach on Saturday. Those interested could talk to Kenco’s experts, attend some short informative sessions and even try out some of Kenco’s inventory of kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes. They could even take a tour with Steve Noble from Kingston Parks and Recreation to really get immersed with the experience of kayaking on the river.
For someone like me who grew up near the river, braving it sometimes with a leaky wooden row boat and cut out Clorox bottle to bail it out with, it was very interesting to watch. The state of the art certainly has changed and made the river much more easily accessible, and safer. The Hudson River is a tremendous asset to this area and it was great to see people taking advantage of it in a very up close and personal way.
