This Weekend’s Happenings in Kingston, NY for 4/2-4/4

Happy Weekend! Once again, there are plenty of exciting happenings to discover in and around Kingston NY!

If you celebrate the upcoming holiday, Happy Easter! You can take part in some Easter related events- For a truly unique Easter experience, join the Trolley Museum of New York and “Hop” aboard their 1929 Brill Interurban Doodlebug #120 for their Easter Train! They will have the Museum and train decorated for Easter with plenty of candy for the kids! And for even more fun, they’re offering an onboard scavenger hunt! Join Beyond the 4 Walls Outreach Program at Van Buren Park on April 3rd, 2021 from 11am-3pm for ‘Easter Egg Painting and Coloring,’ as well as ‘First Annual Easter Egg Hunt’ at Grand Cru in Rhinebeck (Open to kids of patrons, 12 years or younger)!

For some Virtual yet Live Entertainment for a good cause, The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck is hosting a’ Community Champions Telethon,’ developed in response to the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our community’s cherished first responders. This event is proudly sponsored by local individuals, businesses, and organizations, 100% of the donations raised from this event will go directly to Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck Fire Department, and The Baptist Home at Brookmeade.

Try something new and join a fun fitness class conveniently located in Midtown Kingston at the awesome new Energy Square building- ‘DANCE XROSS FITNESS DXF’ at CCE! DXF uses different genres of fun and basic dance movements in classic and contemporary styles to get you moving and having fun.

Two awesome virtual events being offered by ‘Bardavon Presents’ are Bardavon Presents Virtual Cinema – ‘WAR HORSE.’ War Horse is a powerfully moving and imaginative stage drama, based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo. This event is available for customers to buy “appointment screenings” daily, so check out the event below to schedule a screening. Another awesome virtual stream is ‘OPEN PRACTICE’ by Philippe Petit, which gives audiences front row seats to observe Petit’s creative process and the origins of many of his unique walks and moves on the wire. Help support UPAC and the Bardavon and keep the entertainment going!

For some safe Hudson Valley history, check out the Hudson River Maritime Museum’s Limited Open Admission. And while you’re on the Rondout- check out ARTPORT for their ‘Follow the Line’ Exhibition, running from March 6- April 11, 2021. Two more awesome art events- Green Kill presents “Three,” an exhibition curated by Joel Silverstein, featuring Tine Kindermann, Joel Silverstein and Miguel Trelles. And, you can still catch THE LOCKWOOD GALLERY presenting “Bruce Cahn: Discovered,” a solo exhibition highlighting the prolific though little known practice of the late artist Bruce Cahn (1942-2020).

Get outside and enjoy the fresh, spring air with the Woodstock Land Conservancy and their “First Saturdays on the Trail” program series. This week, enjoy a forest school walk hosted by Heather Longyear.
