Artist Bios

Dave Kearney – perhaps the reason that Dave Kearney’s songs are so powerful is that he has actually lived them. His heartfelt performances elicit nods of recognition, tears, and a line of people coming up to him after the show to tell him which song moved them the most. Sometimes it’s the one about a wounding father/daughter relationship, or the tragedy of addiction, or a shattering love triangle, or a sacred experience of the natural world. Sure he has had influences. But that is not enough. And obviously he has studied his craft well. But it is the crucible of his life experiences that makes Kearney a commanding artist.

Spaghetti Eastern Music is the genre-leaping solo project of Hudson Valley-based guitarist/keyboardist Sal Cataldi. Spaghetti Eastern Music marries funky, acid jazz-fueled guitar instrumentals and ambient soundscapes with bare-bones acoustic ballads straight out of the Nick Drake school.  Cataldi debuted the project with the critically-acclaimed 2016 album, “Sketches of Spam,” which has been followed with a number of EPs and singles. The New York Times says Cataldi “has a beat unmistakably his own” while Time Out New York praises his “delicate guitar work and the hauntingly moody atmosphere he conjures.” Called “beautiful and unique” by WFUV’s Mixed Bag and “charmingly melodic and off-center” by WFMU.  Hudson Valley One has called Spaghetti Eastern “part Sergio Leone fever dream, part Ravi Shankar raga, a whirling dervish of musical creation… a must-see.” Chronogram Magazine called his music “cool, melodic, inspired and transcendent, a wave of sonic warmth and light.” Psychedelic Baby Magazine calls it “the perfect sonic tonic for these trouble times.”  Cataldi is also a member of the ambient guitar duo Guitars A Go Go, the poetry/music project Vapor Vespers and the psych/surf quartet, Spaceheater.  He is also a contributing writer on music and culture to The New York Times, Rolling Stone, PopMatters, Inside+Out Upstate NY and other outlets and the host of “Reading Is Funktamental,” a monthly radio show/podcast on books about music on WGXC 90.7 FM. Day Pass

The Day Pass Trio brings together musicians with a diverse history ranging from working with Cecil Taylor and Ornette Coleman to Joseph Bowie’s Defunkt. Day Pass features John Mulkerin on trumpet, John Bruschini on guitar & Chris Bowman on drums. The trio’s music has an emphasis on free-form improvisation, encompassing original compositions along with some loosey-goosey free-form-peppered funkiness.

 Megan Gugliotta

“Soulful and contemplative improvised violin loops to take you on a meditative musical sojourn.”

With not much rhyme or reason, eight-year-old Megan Gugliotta chose to play the violin in her Buffalo area school program, but it quickly became her favorite activity.  After earning degrees in Music Education and Violin Performance at the University of South Carolina, she began her teaching career on Long Island in 1998. In 2007 Megan moved to the Hudson Valley after she was hired by the Middletown City School District to start a string program from scratch. She is currently the orchestra director at Middletown High School.

In addition to her teaching career, Megan is an active performer. She enjoys playing a wide range of genres, from Classical to ambient and improvised. Currently, she performs with the Northern Dutchess Symphony and with local rock band Tulula and visual artist Nancy Ostrovsky. She is also the pit violinist at the Woodstock Playhouse during their Summer Theater Festival season.  Megan resides in Kerhonkson, NY with her husband Biagio and their cat Louie Sweets.
