Stone Ridge Library’s 2024 Cake Off
Calling all home bakers! On October 5th, the Stone Ridge Library will be hosting their 2nd annual Cake Off, a cake competition that is sure to be as sweet as…cake! This friend-raising event features ten amateur bakers from Ulster County – and we want YOU to join us!
Bakers present homemade cakes baked from scratch and based on cookbooks from the Mid-Hudson Library system. Our judges include two professional bakers and last year’s winner of the People’s Choice Award. Ribbons are awarded in various creative categories for flavor combinations and design. A People’s Choice Award is given based on votes by community members after the public tasting.
This is a light-hearted and fun community event, so we’re looking for colorful, tasty, and even slightly sloping cakes. It’s about enjoying baking, cookbooks and having fun!
To sign up as a baker, you must be:
– 15 years or older
-an amateur / at home baker without professional bakery training or experience
-a resident of Ulster County
-willing to use or clearly adapt a recipe from a book checked out from the Mid-Hudson Library System
There is no entry fee! To register as a Cake Off participant, visit https://forms.gle/MajRGXJG3bPMnPhM8. Want more information? Visit stoneridgelibrary.org or email programs@stoneridgelibrary.org.
