Rick Danko of The Band. PL&C has presented this show in Woodstock, NY for the past eighteen years. The show concentrates on songs from Rick Danko’s solo career and the songs he created with The Band
Rick Danko bass player and vocalist of The Band, christened Louie ~ Professor Louie ~ due to his work with The Band and the individual members of The Band. Louie collaborated with Rick Danko and The Band for over fifteen years, co-producing The Band’s last three CD’s & Rick Danko’s solo CD’s. Professor Louie toured with The Rick Danko Band and played numerous duo shows with Rick.
Professor Louie & The Crowmatix has emerged in the music industry as the torchbearer of the true spirit of American Roots Music. They have seventeen albums on the Woodstock Records Label. In 2023, Woodstock Records released on vinyl and CD: Rockin’ Legacy Vol. 1 EP, which was #4 on the Relix /Jamband Charts and has been gaining great reviews & radio play. Their 2022 release Strike Up The Band spent ten months on the Contemporary Blues Roots Music Radio Charts. They hold a permanent place in The Canada South Blues Museum. Recipients of The Robert H. Chambers Award for Excellence in the Traditional Arts from Common Ground on the Hill and have been inducted in The New York State Blues Hall of Fame.
Professor Louie for the past five years has hosted a popular radio show, “Professor Louie’s Woodstock Rockin’ Revue” on Sat evening’s 5-7 PM on Radio Station WKZE 98.1
