Open Chess Tournament

Your First Chess Tournament! 

A chess tournament open to all ages and skill levels. This event is meant to be an introduction to competitive, tournament chess in a laid-back relaxed environment. Join us for an introductory chess tournament designed to help players experience organized competition, learn tournament procedures, and enjoy the challenge of playing other chess enthusiasts. This event will be proctored and organized by Donald Odom, lifetime member of the US Chess Federation and chess instructor and enthusiast.

What to Expect

● A welcoming atmosphere: An introduction to tournament play without unnecessary pressure.

● Organized competition: Play a series of games against other participants.

● Recognition and awards: Special recognition for top-performing players overall and top scholastic players.

● A learning experience: Become familiar with tournament etiquette, chess clocks, pairings, and game results.

● An opportunity to improve: Gain experience and confidence for future tournaments.

We aim to play 5 rounds, but tournament pairings and system will depend on how many attendees we get.
