Comedian Joanna Rush riffs at the Arts Society of Kingston (ASK)
In “No Malarkey!” by Joanna Rush, the “World’s Oldest Comedian” takes on ageism, sexism, and
political hypocrisy on Thursday, June 13th at 7 pm.
NO MALARKEY! is a solo performance by actress and writer Joanna Rush. This comedic satire
showcases Rush in her desire to pursue comedy at the age of 81, disrupting the concepts of
ageism and sexism surrounding politics and the performing arts. Within the show, Rush
highlights the similarities between herself and President Joe Biden. She shares the parallels in
their lives including strict religious upbringings, near death encounters and most importantly,
their “No Malarkey” concept of handling all aspects of life. With exquisite timing linked to the
fast-moving stream of current events, this show is focused on engaging the audience with the
lighter side of our country’s political climate and the upcoming elections. ASK presents this
hilarious standup comedy act at the ASK Center for the Arts at 97 Broadway, Kingston NY, on
Thursday, June 13th 2024, at 7-8pm.

Directed by Lynne Taylor-Corbett, No Malarkey! features actress and writer Joanna Rush. Joanna
Rush is a writer and performer who began her career as a Radio City Rockette, then performed
in “Shirley MacLaine” at the Palace Theater in NYC. She later moved to Los Angeles to pursue a
career in acting, most notable for her performance in the movie Sunburn (1979). At the age of
67, she created her play KICK which won an Off Broadway Alliance Nomination for Best
Performance in a Solo Play. Her other plays include “Home Sweet Homeland”, “Accidental
Mummies”, and “Sex and Power.” She is now pursuing a comedy career, performing several
different solo shows around the Northeast including “No Malarkey!” at the famed Don’t Tell
Mama Theater in NYC.
