LAURA ZAROUGIAN
Laura Zarougian is a singer-songwriter based in New York’s Hudson Valley. Her debut album, Nayri, draws from country, folk, and rock, while exploring themes of her Armenian and Middle Eastern identities. She is especially drawn to her family’s stories- displaced people whose voices were and are still underrepresented. She refers to this genre as “Armenian Cowgirl.”
She has been an open mic host, poet for hire, barista and an elementary school art teacher. DJ Aja Whitney of Radio Woodstock WDST recently named “Nayri” one of her favorite albums of 2023. Jon Aird of Americana UK listed my song “Back To Me” as the No.2 song of 2023.
