Event Type

In this workshop SHALA MILLER will lead participants in looking at the practice of self-portraiture as if it is a room. A space. A container. What are the makings of it? What can be made of it? What does it hold outside of our physical body? What can it hold outside of our physical body and furthermore what can be imaged of it?

As a group, participants will discuss how self portraiture can be used as a tool in self-study, helping us to find grounding in ourselves and the world around us. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create new self portraits that embrace experimentation through sculpture, performance, and mixed media.

WHAT TO BRING: Digital camera, memory card, hard drive, and any collage materials (i.e. prints, magazine clippings, paper, archival images) that you may wish to incorporate. We will also provide materials to play with.
