SUMMARY:In My Room: Rethinking the Photographic Self-Portrait
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop SHALA MILLER will lead participants in looki
 ng at the practice of self-portraiture as if it is a room. A space. A cont
 ainer. What are the makings of it? What can be made of it? What does it ho
 ld outside of our physical body? What can it hold outside of our physica
 l body and furthermore what can be imaged of it?\n\nAs a group\, participa
 nts will discuss how self portraiture can be used as a tool in self-study\
 , helping us to find grounding in ourselves and the world around us. In th
 is hands-on workshop\, participants will create new self portraits that em
 brace experimentation through sculpture\, performance\, and mixed media.\n
 \nWHAT TO BRING: Digital camera\, memory card\, hard drive\, and any coll
 age materials (i.e. prints\, magazine clippings\, paper\, archival images)
  that you may wish to incorporate. We will also provide materials to play
