Dinner with the Ghosts: Dinner & Paranormal Investigation at the Anchorage Restaurant

The Anchorage Restaurant, located at 182 Canal Street on the Roundout Creek in Eddyville, NY, has long been known as a haunted and mysterious location.

Built-in the 1800s on the Delaware and Hudson Canal, the brick building has survived a town-wide fire and multiple floods. An apparition of a “Man in a Top Hat” has been seen many times in the bar area by patrons and staff alike. There have been reported occurrences of disembodied voices and seeing shadows and spirits by the Martin Family, who have lived in the building and owned and operated the Anchorage since the 1950s, as well as being seen by Patrons and Staff of the restaurant. Many staff refuse to go into the basement as it is also known to be the location of many haunted occurrences.

The D& H Canal was the product of the Wurts brothers, who chose the Roundout as the eastern point of the canal, purchased land on the Strand, and brought in Scottish and Irish workers, who hand dug what would become the canal. The Canal was used for commerce to transport items such as coal, grain, etc., between Pennsylvania and the Hudson Valley in order to make it easier to ship coal and products to the area and NYC. The canal was abandoned in the 1950s and is now the home to yacht clubs and boats.

The Anchorage Restaurant, situated in the picturesque Hudson Valley on the Roundout Creek along the D & H Canal, is located not far from Kingston, NY. It is known by locals for its delicious food, warm atmosphere, and for the occasional spooky or haunting occurrence.

We will start with a buffet dinner, dessert including tea and coffee, and soft drinks. Cash bar optional. We will have a group Seance connecting to the Spirits of the Restaurant and quite possibly the Spirits of the participants, and followed by group investigations of the restaurant. We will go over paranormal etiquette, including equipment.

There will be some equipment available for use, but we encourage if you would like to bring your own please do.
