Comateens and Tulula!
Comateens
NYC Electro-Pop, Cooked in Downtown Sauce, Served All Night!
Comateens were founded in the burgeoning New York City rock scene of the late ‘70s — one of the first groups to discard the traditional sounds and line-ups that were standard in historical downtown venues like Max’s Kansas City and CBGB. The band mutated throughout three major label album releases (Comateens, Pictures On A String, and Deal With It), leaving some dance-club hits behind them and confusing and delighting audiences at home and abroad.
Disbanding upon the untimely and tragic death of guitarist Oliver North, Nicholas West and Lyn Byrd continued recording as a duo, releasing the album West & Byrd in 1988, and are currently working on new material and performing in NY. Tricatel Records re-released a three album Comateens deluxe set in 2019. Lyn and Nic will be performing as a duo in this show at Chromatic Studios.

Tulula!
Tulula! has been stomping around Rip Van Winkle’s dreamland since the mid-oughts. The Acid-Cowboy quintet including Jason Broome, Rob Norris, Daniel Weintraub, and Megan Gugliotta comes off like a mosh pit at a gypsy carnival followed by a séance with the 27 club. Between them, these veterans of the underground have toured the world, recorded over thirty-five albums and eaten like princes with paupers. Tulula! is sure to whisk you one dance away from the happy farm.
