Golf, 52 weeks out of the year in New York State? People are always looking for something to do and for some months of the year, what is usually done outdoors must be done indoors. It took a local entrepreneur to leverage some state of the art equipment to enable golfers to continue to hone their game in the dead of winter and even play competitively if they wanted to. Meet this week’s Doer and Dreamer who is one of many people in the area that are trying to keep us busy all year round.

Occupation: Golf Center Operator

What is your approach to your business or occupation that makes you unique?
Besides the fact the we are a 12 month Golf Center in the north east. Being a family run
business we pride ourselves on knowing our customers. Its important to know a little about everyone that spends time with you at your business. I feel that keeping the atmosphere light people feel more relaxed and welcomed, and lets face it most people play golf to relax

Where are you from originally?
Kerhonkson NY

What brought you to the Kingston area and keeps you in this area?
I bought a house in Kingston in 2005 and one year later my family bought the golf center

What is your favorite hangout in this area and why?
Well besides Alapaha (lol) I enjoy some time at Stella’s Restaurant uptown and Little Italy in Midtown.
Both places have very friendly staffs and they treat you like we do at Alapaha. You can tell that the staff at both places care that people spend their time there.

When you’re not in Kingston, what’s your idea of a wonderful city to visit, and why?
As a golfer i enjoy warmer areas, lived in Florida for a little while, and
i do also like Ocean City Maryland…( Off Season) I couldn’t imagine it down there during the peak season, the locals say its absolutely nuts

Tell us something that we never would have guessed about you.
I am not really sure…Most people find it funny that I write with my left hand when they have seen me play golf righty….Ok that wasn’t very interesting….How about the fact that I dislike Avocado…..
