Doers and Dreamers – Emily Glass

I’ve always said that the Kingston area is full of niches waiting to be filled from a business perspective and if you execute well you’ll be very sucessful. It looks like this week’s Doer and Dreamer has found her niche in Uptown Kingston and is on her way to building a unique enterprise making sure the ‘bridezilla’ in all nervous brides never surfaces.

Your name: Emily Glass

Business or organization: Blush Bridal Boutique

Address: 292 Wall Street, Kingston,NY

Occupation: Boutique owner, Shop girl, Wedding enthusiast

What is your approach to your business or occupation that makes you unique?
Weddings tend to put a lot of pressure on couples, especially the bride when she is searching for her perfect dress. At Blush, I strive to alleviate that stress by offering a fresh approach to gown shopping in a relaxing atmosphere so brides feel more like they are playing dress up than checking off a task on a to-do list. I focus on the thoughtful details including one-on-one appointments and in-depth fit consultations to make the experience personal for every client. During an appointment, the bride and her entourage are the only ones in the boutique, so each bride receives the individual attention she deserves when choosing her gown.

Where are you from originally?
Hurley, New York

What brought you to the Kingston area and keeps you in this area?
In 2012, my now husband popped the question so after three years working in New York as Press Director for a contemporary women’s showroom, I returned to my hometown. I began working for HITS and Diamond Mills as the Public Relations Specialist and it was during this time that I noticed a void in the Hudson Valley’s bridal market. Four years later, Blush was born.

What is your favorite hangout in this area and why?
When I’m not at the shop, chances are you can find me at Uptown Coffee. A chocolate chip cookie and Jenna’s vibrant personality are my afternoon pick-me-up.

When you’re not in Kingston, what’s your idea of a wonderful city to visit, and why?
Nashville! I fell in love with everything the city represents, including country music. The talent, laid back vibe and delicious BBQ restaurants are not in short supply.

Tell us something that we never would have guessed about you.
Every year on my wedding anniversary, I put on my wedding dress. My husband and I drink champagne, laugh, and reminisce about the best day ever.
