The Downtown Sessions – live band open mic

Here’s welcoming you to a community space for the local music scene in Kingston!

The downtown sessions is a songwriters’ social, bringing together performing artists, musicians, and music fans. It’s a live band open mic where performers play songs with a trio backing them up downtown at The Great Room:

Whether originals or cover songs, the band has the experience to support vocalists & serve the song with just a few simple prompts:

This is a place for gems in-the-rough and joyous experimentation with the unfamiliar… Our goal is to provide a low-key environment where new material can be workshopped in a supportive atmosphere. We welcome those who are shy about performing with others, or otherwise marginalized in traditional performance venues to step onstage with us!

Those who wouldn’t otherwise have access to a band can collaborate with musicians from their community, building synergy and lifting barriers to entry within the local music scene. Instrumental musicians are welcomed to sit in with the band if they feel up to the challenge – come see what our communitie is all about!

The Downtown Sessions are supported by donations at the door, where drinks and snacks are also always available!
