This Weekend’s Happenings in Kingston, NY for 3/26-3/28
It’s a beautiful first week of Spring here in the Hudson Valley and there are plenty of great events to enjoy! Women’s History Month is still in full swing. Check out the documentary “Women Composers” directed by pianist Kyra Steckeweh, that will be streamed in collaboration with Rosendale Theatre on Friday 3/26. Additionally, another great Women’s History Month event is happening Friday 3/26- a FREE outdoor event at Seasoned Delicious Foods in Kingston Celebrating Women’s History Month, ‘all are welcome to uplift, unite, and empower our community’s women to recognize the SHE-ro within and share those gifts with the world.’ This event includes special guest speakers, State Senator Michelle Hinchey, Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher, Naimah Muhammad, and some great musical performances!
For those who are celebrating this weekend- happy holidays! Enjoy a Passover Day Hike with Rabbi Yael in the outdoors for a beautiful, scenic, and gentle hike and study along Kingston’s newest addition, the Hudson River Brickyard Trail on Sunday 3/28.
For those interested in art, support our friends at ARTPORT by joining them for a virtual Zoom event, join Beth Humphrey, Michael Asbill, Jessica Poser, and founder Simon Draper to learn about the ‘Habitat for Artist’ project that will be installed at ArtPort this Summer. They will talk about the history of the project, the progress of the current shed, and the residency opportunities available this Summer.
For some local history, there’s a virtual event hosted by Walkway Over the Hudson, ‘Virtual Lecture: The Great Life of Sojourner Truth’ on Sunday 3/28. It’s the last weekend of Maple Sugaring at Seed Song Farm. This project from Seed Song Farm ‘honors our native “first people” and one of their greatest gifts to all future immigrants: the wisdom, method, and gratitude for making Maple Sugar.’ A fun weekend of maple sugaring for the whole family awaits!
