Kingston’s Festival of the Arts is ten days of music and dance by well-known performers brought together by Kerry Henderson of the Uptown Gallery. Henderson, who is a world-renown opera singer himself, will be opening the festival with other vocalists and musicians Thursday, Aug. 21 at his Uptown Gallery venue. From then, until Sunday, Aug. 31 there will be performances at various venues throughout the city. Highlighting the schedule will be multiple performances of ‘The Other Mozart’, a play about the famous composer’s sister and aerial dance company, Dzul Dance performance at the Andy Murphy Auditorium. The auditorium venue was needed because dancers perform much of their performance suspended in mid air. Besides these performances, there will be a number of jazz and classical music performances, as well as programs for kids to participate in and enjoy. You can also add to the week’s festivities the Kingston Artists Soap Box Derby and the Wall St Jazz Festival.
