Worl-A-Girl is a remarkable fusion of four distinct voices and backgrounds: Sabrina, the voice of Trinidad, Linda, representing the USA, Sensi, lending her talents from the UK, Juliet, the Jamaican soul of the group.
Sony/Chaos Label, A Record Deal for Musical Pioneers:
The groups’ underground local releases included Chemis Inna Dis, X-Amount, I Can’t Wait, Back to school and their counteraction from the female perspective of the Chaka Demus and Pliers hit theirs titled “Murder He Wrote” leading them to sign with Sony/Chaos label enabling them to reach even wider audiences. Their commitment to addressing social and cultural issues through their music was most evident in their debut single “No Gunshot,” its positive message urged listeners to “put down the gun” transcending borders and advocating for a more peaceful world.
Cool Runnings Gold Record:
Worl-A-Girl made waves in the music world with their contribution to the iconic movie Cool Runnings.: Their track “Jamaican Bobsled Chant” became a standout part of the Gold Record-winning soundtrack, introducing their infectious rhythms to a global audience.
Top of the Charts:
Their rendition of Bob Marley’s timeless classic, “No Woman No Cry” struck a chord with music lovers worldwide. It not only received widespread acclaim but also reached the impressive #1 spot on music charts in the Ivory Coast West Africa for an astounding 18 weeks. An incredible feat for a single on an album chart.
New Music:
November 2022, saw a reemergence of Worl-A-Girl and the release of their exciting single “La La” the enthusiastic musical announcement of their return. This new project is being Produced and overseen by Grammy nominated producer/musician/ engineer – Mr. Sidney Mills formally of Steel pulse and Boogie Down Productions fame. 2023 saw the release of “CALM DOWN” an afrobeat fusion with Nigerian newcomer IceSleek. Ending the year with “DUH ROAD” a groovy Computer Paul of Boot Camp records Jamaica produced track. The first release of 2024, saw the ladies most poignant release yet. A conscious bassline driven Bob Marley track remake boasting original thought- provoking lyrics titled “NECESSARY” produced by Grammy nominated Engineer/producer Jamey Zebrack. While their latest is entitled “PARTY ANTHEM” production credited to a collaboration of Sidney Mills, Coozie Mellers and pre-production by Sleepy Wonder of No Limit Music, is a true example of sisterhood. They are joined by additional lady veterans in the industry, as well as vocalists from their original recording of “Chemis” Lady English and Sista Don, and lastly from Dancehall Divas fame Diva Lesi.
Having toured Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, the Ladies became reggae ambassadors.
