KJ Denhert: The Rhythmic Realist
KJ Denhert is an award-winning songwriter, soulful storyteller, and bandleader with a Brooklyn-born edge and a river town heart. A genre-blending force of urban folk and jazz, who delivers truth with groove. KJ is grounded, always gracious. Whether rocking the West Village, vibing in Red Hook, or curating songwriter magic in Beacon and beyond. KJ reflects things that are real with an ear for nuance, a head for harmony, and a heart for connection.
Michele Gedney and Jen Clapp
Long a favorite of the folk music world, Michele and Rick Gedney ‘s “Open Book” ended with their recording of Leaning In with producer Billy Masters. Michele then teamed up with longtime friend and fellow singer songwriter Jenn Clapp. Together they intuitively blend voices and guitar styles to support one another’s songs, creating a sound that is both powerful and intimate.
This series will be curated and hosted by Elly Wininger who performed in one of Judy’s “Women in Music” concerts. Elly is a an acoustic and slide guitarist, and songwriter known for her roots in the Greenwich Village Folk and Blues scene. She was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame in 2014, and her album The Blues Never End (2021) spent over four months in the top six albums on the Roots Music Report’s Acoustic Blues chart, with several weeks at Number One. Beyond performing, Wininger has produced award-winning music documentaries for public radio and hosted numerous radio shows. Like Judy, she conducts workshops which empower people of all ages and abilities to write their own songs.
Judy Whitfield was a beloved singer-songwriter who performed her own songs and organized concerts and multi-arts gatherings in the Hudson Valley. The Woodstock Times awarded her “Women in Music” series the region’s “Best Ongoing Music Series,” with Judy being named “Ms. Entertainment. Although she passed away from complications of MS in 2025, her spirit remains strong. Judy’s talent, curiosity, generosity, wit and humor will be celebrated in the continuation of “Women in Music” at Colony Woodstock.
