The Art of Jack Miller
This August The Lace Mill Arts presents a retrospective of art photographer Jack Miller, a collection that spans nearly 4 decades. A fashion designer turned photographer, Miller found himself in the center of the Studio 54 night life during the glory days of the Punk Rock era and would later transform his photographs of iconic celebrities into Neo-Pop images reminiscent to the Pop silkscreens of Andy Warhol’s Factory. Miller would later move to the Hudson Valley, leaving behind a gritty NYC life style where he shook off a drug addiction several years before. His Hudson Valley work are of his new found surroundings depicting nature, and mechanical structures lensed atmospherically with a melancholy mood through his use of light. After a failed marriage, Miller moved into The Shirt Factory in Kingston, NY, where he joined other Kingston artists contributing to Kingston’s booming art scene.
The Art of Jack Miller opens at The Lace Mill Main Gallery on August 2nd and runs through August 31st. Opening reception will be on Saturday, August 2nd from 5pm to 9pm. Gallery hours after the opening will be every Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
