Spaghetti Eastern 2 Bass Hit & Spaceheater at Tinker St Tavern
Spaghetti Eastern Trio is a new variation of the solo project founded by Hudson Valley-based guitarist/keyboardist Sal Cataldi, Spaghetti Eastern Music. Cataldi’s creative partners in this project are bassist/composer Tom “Spontaneous” Semioli and drummer Dirk Drazen. The New York Times says Cataldi “has a beat unmistakably his own” while Time Out New York praises his “delicate guitar work and the hauntingly moody atmosphere he conjures.” Called “beautiful and unique” by WFUV’s Mixed Bag and “charmingly melodic and off-center” by WFMU. Hudson Valley One has called Spaghetti Eastern “part Sergio Leone fever dream, part Ravi Shankar raga, a whirling dervish of musical creation… a must-see.” Chronogram Magazine called his music “cool, melodic, inspired and transcendent, a wave of sonic warmth and light.” Psychedelic Baby Magazine labels it “the perfect sonic tonic for these troubled times.”
spaceheater is a quartet comprised of four veteran Hudson Valley musicians, guitarists Rick Warren and Sal Cataldi, bassist Sean Allison and drummer April. Together, they put their effects-driven guitars, thumping bass and polyrhythmic drum assault to work on everything from the heaviest rock to jazz and blues to ambient and industrial sounds, in both originals and obscure covers. The latter span from early Pink Floyd to electric-era Miles Davis and Terje Rypdal to psych/garage classics like Eight Miles High and Rumble. The band regularly performs at popular Hudson Valley venues including the Colony, Pearl Moon and The Station Bar in Woodstock, The Tinker Street Tavern at the Bearsville Theater, West Kill Supply and Green Kill Sessions in Kingston, Snug Harbor in New Paltz and many more. Hudson Valley One recently called the band: “A powerhouse of genre-defying sounds, blending heavy rock, jazz, blues ambient and industrial influences.”
