Scottish String Fling 2025

A weekend of dynamic, joyful, and soul-stirring string music with world-class musicians!

Are you a classical player eager to dive into learning by ear? A cellist who wants to master the groove of “chopping”? A trad musician who craves the power of a massive string ensemble locking into rhythm? This is your chance to express yourself, connect, and groove with the legendary Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas and special guests.

 What to Expect:
 Learn and arrange Scottish (and related) tunes in a large ensemble
 Focus on melodic expression, ornamentation, and groove
 Celebrate with a Saturday night ceilidh dance party
 Sing, dance, and feel the rhythm deep in your bones
 Experience a weekend full of camaraderie, inspiration, and fun

Designed for intermediate and advanced fiddle (violin) and cello players, but all instruments and levels are welcome!

Meet the Instructors
 Alasdair Fraser – A Scottish fiddle icon, known for his expressive playing and deep connection to tradition.
 Natalie Haas – A cello virtuoso bringing rhythm, harmony, and joy to traditional music.
 Emerald Rae – A fiddler & folksinger blending Celtic roots with modern influences.
 Ted Randolph – A Scottish dance teacher who will lead the Saturday night ceilidh!
