Of Paper & Plate: Contemporary Art at Market Basket Delicatessen

For three days this October, Site Seen brings contemporary art into an unexpected Kingston setting: a working neighborhood deli.

Presented in collaboration with O+ during the 2026 O+ Festival, Of Paper & Plate brings together 14 contemporary artists inside Market Basket Delicatessen in Uptown Kingston.

Rather than transforming the deli into a gallery, the exhibition allows the two to coexist. The counter stays open, lunch gets made, customers come and go, and art enters a space already in motion. Taking its title from two familiar objects, paper and plate, the exhibition invites artists to explore their material, cultural and associative possibilities while responding to a place never designed for the presentation of art.
