Since the late fifteenth century, artists and craftspeople have been etching metal plates using corrosive solutions. Join Ezra Heller to introduce you to this historical method of developing reproducible fine line images on paper.
In this 4-week course students will learn about an intaglio etching process using BIG ground. Students will have an in-depth overview of hardground etching methods. Hardground is a method within intaglio to achieve detailed marks to be printed. Ezra will guide students through preparing their plates, applying and curing their BIG ground, mark making, and printing their copper plates. This class is open to all levels of experience!
