Event Type

For nearly a century, two generations of the Jewish immigrant Reher family ran a bakery from the storefront of 101 Broadway in Kingston, New York, and lived upstairs. Kingston residents of the surrounding Rondout neighborhood, mostly working class and immigrant, came to Reher’s for bread, canned goods, and gossip.

Today, the site is a museum and cultural center that preserves and honors the legacy of Reher’s Bakery through amplifying immigrant stories of the Hudson Valley, past and present.

Visiting with Children: Families are welcome on our Historic Bakery Tours and in our gallery. We find the Historic Bakery Tour experience is best suited for children ages 6 and up.

Parking: Parking along Spring Street is free. Metered parking is available along Broadway, free on Sunday. There is a free municipal lot on Rondout Landing at the foot of Broadway.
