Hysteria! Where history’s most audacious women come to life… as comedy.
The Hudson Valley’s first all-women improv show brings history’s boldest, most presumptuous broads straight to the stage…completely unscripted! Created by Lisa Pertoso, Joanna Castle Miller and The Duke Comedy Theatre, with stories researched and hosted by Joanna Castle Miller. Each performance turns real historical tales into hilarious, long-form improv comedy.
About You Had To Be There with Bombshell:
Beacon’s own indie improv darlings Bombshell and two special moth-style storytelling guests bring you a night of juicy tales that will inspire wild comedy scenes made up on the spot, never to be seen again. Bombshell is Emily Sylvester, Natalie Hardaker, Valerie Lynn Brett, and Brooke Comegys. Created/produced by Bombshell and co-produced with The Duke Comedy Theatre.
About Your Bizarre Day:
What happens when real life gets weird? We turn it into comedy.
TJ Del Reno and his NYC veteran improviser friends (from UCB Theater, Reckless Theatre, and The Magnet) invite one brave audience member to share a strange, awkward, or downright bizarre day from their life. Then they transform that true story into a fully improvised comedy show, created right before your very eyes!
About Duke Comedy Theatre:
The Duke Comedy Theatre is the Hudson Valley’s nonprofit home for improv comedy, founded by husband and wife team TJ Del Reno, a veteran NYC improviser with roots at UCB, Reckless Theatre, and The P.I.T., and Caroline Del Reno, a former documentary producer whose work has appeared on Disney+ and Hulu. Based in Beacon, NY, we produce monthly shows, offer classes and workshops for all skill levels, and provide private coaching for individuals and indie teams, all with one simple belief: your story is worth telling, and your weird, awkward, ordinary moments are the best material in the room. From our flagship show, Your Bizarre Day, to the all-women Hudson Valley Bechdel Test, our monthly Improv Jam, and beyond. Every stage we create is a place where beginners, performers, and community members can say yes, follow the fun, and discover what happens when they let themselves play. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’re not building a side project. We’re building a real creative home, brick by brick, laugh by laugh, for this community and for keeps.
