Bone Tar Workshop & Foraging Walk with Agroforester Zander Lines

Create Bone Tar using an Eastern European method to deter deer from your trees and garden. Participants will extract marrow from deer and cow bones and use an oxygenless kiln to melt the marrow. This process creates a pungent tar which can repel deer for up to two years – so much more cost effective than fencing or tree tubes. We found it effective in protecting our rows of chestnut trees in a field with fierce deer pressure! We will walk to the trees to demonstrate the application, and learn some foraging skills along the way.
