Block Carving with Moth Snow
Join Kingston artist Moth Snow at The Department of Things for a fun introduction to linocut block carving! Thursday evening July 24th 6-9pm
In this 3 hour class you’ll be walked through designing, carving, and printing your very own block print. Hands on instruction by Moth Snow, a sustainable textile artist and teacher. After carving you’ll get the chance to print your block and use pre-carved blocks provided by Moth.
Learn the basics of fabric printing and create a washable custom textile to tell your own story. Re-imagine a stained shirt, make personalized napkins, print fabric patches, and explore the printmaking process with ease.
Participants will complete a 5×7 block (1-2 designs), one small trial item, 1 larger printed item of their choice, and keep their carved block.
Feel free to bring fabric, clothing, cards, notebooks, and other paper to print on.
30% deposit due at booking, balance due to instructor prior to first class.
