Live and Unfinished: A Night of New Theatre, features Jim Metzner, Jean E Taylor and Frank Boyd in three solo new and unfinished theatre pieces.

In Rediscovering Poppa by Jim Metzner, an unexpected gift ignites a poignant, humorous journey back in time to a shtetl in the old country, searching for a grandfather‘s roots, navigating a few rabbit holes along the way.

In Return of the Wild Hare by Jean E Taylor, A research librarian finds herself leading a resistance movement, known as the Wild Hares. The wild hare possesses many qualities currently missing from our civic landscape. She shares details, insights, questions and an urgent call to action, as those who would quiet her, are nearing the door.

In Bullpen by Frank Boyd, an eccentric and verbose minor league baseball player prepares his teammates for the end of civilization. Actor/writer Frank Boyd presents 20-ish minutes of brand new material from a new full-length piece he is working on.

Jim Metzner is best known as the producer of the award-winning radio series and podcast, Pulse of the Planet. He’s a graduate of Yale Drama School, where he appeared in Andre Gregory‘s production of The Bacchae. Jim starred in the London premier of Sam Shepherd‘s Red Cross.  His play Passover Dreams, featuring Theodore Bikel and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, won a Gabriel award, and was broadcast nationwide over American Public Radio. Cast against type, Jim has appeared in several productions as the angel in It’s a Wonderful Life.

Jean E. Taylor is the Director of the Teaching Artistry Program at Lincoln Center. She is a recipient of the Directors Emeriti Award and has represented LC at the International Teaching Artist Conferences (ITAC) in Oslo, Brisbane, Edinburgh, New York City, Seoul, and Auckland. Jean and her Intergenerational Co-Mentor, Zoey Peacock Jones, recently launched The Office of Kindness, an interactive clown-inspired installation offering whimsy as a remedy for life’s daily dilemmas. Jean teaches theatrical clown for The New School’s College of Performing Arts and for the Barrow Group Arts Center. Her approach to theatrical clown has been published in Movement for Actors, Allworth Press. Jean serves on ITAC’s Leadership Committee and is a board member for the Maxine Greene Institute for Aesthetic Education and Social Imagination.

Frank Boyd is an actor and writer based in the Hudson Valley. He has appeared off-Broadway in Gatz (Public Theatre), Is This A Room (Vineyard Theatre) and The Select (New York Theatre Workshop). Frank has toured nationally and internationally, performing with Elevator Repair Service, Young Jean Lee’s Theater Company, Half Straddle and the TEAM.
