Walkway Connections(For Kids): Native Plants and Pollinators
Bring the family to Walkway Over the Hudson to come roll up your sleeves and get grounded with the Vassar College Environmental Cooperative on Friday, May 9 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ulster Welcome Center (87 Haviland Road, Highland).
Kids will learn how they can take action to support pollinators like butterflies and bees right in their own backyard. Participants will learn all about native plants, decorate their own pot, and receive a seedling to take home (while supplies last).
Walkway Connections events are free to attend. No RSVP required.
This event takes place prior to Lights Across the Walkway. After Walkway Connections, all attendees and their families are invited to take a moonlit stroll across the bridge illuminated by luminary remembrances placed by Hudson Valley Hospice.
The Environmental Cooperative at the Vassar Barns works to strengthen place-based awareness of nature in Hudson Valley. We work with the College, the Preserve, the City of Poughkeepsie, and local community-based organizations to connect people with the outdoors. By supporting conservation efforts and facilitating youth programs, we strive to inspire deeper engagement in the natural world while fostering a mindset of environmental stewardship.
