New Executive Director at The Reher Center: Kira Manso Brown
The Reher Center for Immigrant Culture and History has recently announced Kira Manso Brown as its new Executive Director. In this role, Manso Brown will lead the organization in preserving and interpreting its historic bakery site in Kingston, while driving the strategic vision for the Reher Center’s programs, partnerships, and community engagement.
“I am honored to take the helm at the Reher Center during such a pivotal moment,” said Manso Brown. “The Center’s mission—to preserve and celebrate the immigrant stories of the Hudson Valley—is deeply meaningful to me. I look forward to collaborating with the board, staff, and community to ensure that this historic bakery, once a vibrant hub of bread and connection, continues to serve as a vital cultural resource as a museum.”
Manso Brown brings over 15 years of experience in mission-driven leadership, community-building, fundraising, and nonprofit management. Her background also includes experience in the SaaS technology sector, where she led marketing and community teams. Most recently, she co-founded MBG consultancy, focusing on inclusive policies, gatherings, and event strategies. Throughout her career, she has cultivated strong partnerships, designed innovative programs, and fostered meaningful connections among diverse stakeholders.
“Kira brings a deep passion for community, storytelling, and organizational growth to the Reher Center,” said Board President Jill Ammerata. “Her leadership and experience will ensure that the Center continues to elevate the immigrant stories of Kingston and the Hudson Valley, while expanding its impact as a center for education, public programs, and connection.”
An alumna of Smith College and Columbia University, Manso Brown has been recognized for her work in community engagement, strategic planning, and nonprofit leadership. She is also a dedicated advocate for equity and inclusion, serving as Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the Northfield Mount Hermon School Alumni Council. A proud resident of the Hudson Valley, she is committed to using history to inspire dialogue about contemporary challenges and opportunities.
Manso Brown joins the Reher team as the Center celebrates the completion of an extensive roof renovation. “There’s a lot of positive momentum that comes with the completion of such an essential capital project,” she said. “I look forward to growing the exciting exhibitions and programs that take place under our new roof and celebrating this milestone with the community who made it possible through their support.”
The Reher Center for Immigrant Culture and History, housed in a historic bakery in Kingston’s Rondout neighborhood, is dedicated to preserving the immigrant stories of the region and fostering understanding and inclusion through its exhibitions, educational programming, and community events. Under Manso Brown’s leadership, the Center anticipates broadening its reach and deepening its impact.
