ESOPUS MEADOWS PRESERVE

Esopus Meadows is one of the smaller and easy to get to Scenic Hudson venues offering unique vistas to the Hudson River and the Esopus
Meadows Lighthouse along its two miles of trails traversing hilly terrain.

There’s a little something for everybody here. Bird watchers can often be seen with long lens cameras capturing an array of species ranging from herons to egrets and of course, scores of ducks and geese. Careful observers will be treated to the majestic sight of an occasional bald eagle. At the farthest point in the preserve there is a grassy area with a pavilion with picnic tables – perfect for sitting and watching the Hudson flow by. There’s even a modern solar outhouse with a composting toilet nearby. It also has a Dendrology Trail where information is posted about the various trees.

Located at 257 River Road, Ulster Park in the Town of Esopus. Entrance and parking area is adjacent to Light House Park, just to the north.
