Kingston Gets Lucky: A Look Back at St. Patrick’s Day 2024

Kingston, New York donned its finest shade of green on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, for the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The festivities kicked off with the 36th annual Shamrock Run, a spirited 2.1-mile jaunt straight down Broadway.Participants, decked out in festive attire sprinted, jogged or strolled their way from Academy Green to the Rondout Waterfront, embracing the Irish spirit with every stride.

The main event, however, was the crowd-pleasing St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The parade stepped off from Kingston Plaza at 1 pm, transforming the city into a vibrant spectacle of Irish pride. Dozens of colorful floats, lively bagpipe and marching bands, proceeded down Kingston’s main thoroughfare cheered on by a delighted audience.

The festive atmosphere continued after the parade throughout the City of Kingston, where a lively post-race party awaited. Revelers enjoyed corned beef specilas, refreshing drinks, and live music at many popular venues, keeping the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day alive well into the evening.
