Our programs use the arts to teach basic life skills such as persistence, teamwork, discipline, focus and mastery. We place a strong emphasis on having a healthy mind and a healthy body and the importance of education as a path to a better life.

Over 95% of our students have graduated from high school and continued on to pursue college degrees. This proven track record with minority and at risk youth led the Kingston City School District to partner with CCE in the development of new programs at Kingston High School (KHS). The high school is under state watch due to its continued failure to raise graduation rates among minority students. CCE helped the staff at KHS develop a new pilot program featuring Project Based Learning.

This new initiative began in the fall of 2011 and is already showing tremendous results. 100% of the students in our classes passed their state exams and plans are being made to replicate this model throughout the entire high school through the establishment of Small Learning Communities. CCE staff work alongside district teachers and have been credited with inspiring this turn around in student achievement.
The Center has a long standing policy of turning no child away due to the inability to pay and 84% of our current students receive scholarship assistance. We have a very diverse staff and board, one that reflects the diversity of our student body. We are totally committed to assisting today’s young people in becoming the citizen leaders of tomorrow
