DESCRIPTION:647 Plank Rd Phoenicia\n6:30 doors\, 7:00 show\nArt @ Tremper x
Notice Recordings presents\nAn evening of Hardanger fiddle\, a traditiona
l Norwegian fiddle with 5 sympathetic interior strings\n\nZosha Warpeha me
ditative space at the intersection of contemporary improvisation and folk
traditions\n\nCleek Schrey multi-channel piece that structures materials f
rom investigations in folk fiddling\, medieval polyphony\, free improvisat
 ion\, and post-serial processes\n\nZosha Warpeha\nA Brooklyn-based compose
r-performer working in a meditative space at the intersection of\ncontempo
rary improvisation and folk traditions. She explores transformations of ti
 me and\ntonality on Hardanger d’amore\, a sympathetic-stringed relative
of the Norwegian Hardanger\nfiddle\, often layered delicately with her own
voice. Her current solo work is informed by the\ncyclical forms\, rhythmi
c elasticity\, and the physical momentum of Nordic folk music. Warpeha’s
\nsolo debut silver dawn (Relative Pitch Records\, 2024) has been lauded a
s a “breathtaking\ndialogue between Warpeha and her instrument” (I Car
e if You Listen)\, her compositional process\n“subverting tradition not
as a political act\, but as a point of departure” (Peter Margasak). She
is a\n2025 Artist-in-Residence at ISSUE Project Room and her work has also
been supported by the\nUS-Norway Fulbright Foundation\, Jerome Foundation
\, Minnesota State Arts Board\, and the\nMinnesota Arts and Cultural Herit
age Fund.\n\nCleek Schrey\nFiddler\, improviser\, and composer from Virgin
ia\, now based in NYC. Recent\nengagements include the Beckett in London F
estival with Gare St. Lazare\, a solo appearance at\nthe Kilkenny Arts Fes
tival\, and Roulette Intermedium with David Behrman in a concert curated\n
by Meredith Monk. He has studied composition with Behrman\, Paul Caputo\,
Bunita Marcus\, and\nRonald Kuivila. The journal Sound Post has noted that
Cleek “possesses a rare combination of\ntraits: deep respect for tradit
ional music and the people who make it\, and an unbounded\ncuriosity about
new directions for sound.” He is currently pursuing a Masters in Music\
 nComposition at Wesleyan University.
