SUMMARY:Viscosity Printmaking (NPS)
DESCRIPTION:4 Fridays\nAugust 1\,8\,15\,22\n6:00-8:30 pm\n\nAges 16+\n\nVis
 cosity is a multi-color printmaking technique\, also known as “simultane
 ous color printing\,” where one can manipulate inks to be of different t
 hickness and fluidity with additives such as oils or magnesium carbonate. 
 This creates a resistance in some inks and allows all colors to be achieve
 d on a single plate. One can use elements of intaglio or relief printing o
 n their matrix.\n\nJoin us in this introductory 4 day workshop where stude
 nts will learn various methods of viscosity printing using collagraph or p
 lexiglass plates. Students will create plates from found materials (ex: st
 ring\, tapes\, plants\, contact paper\, etc.) and learn to coat their plat
 es using inks of different viscosity. Students will learn about the many p
 ossibilities viscosity printing can offer including ghost prints\, levitat
 ion marks or as Kathy Caraccio calls it “blurries.” If students wish t
 o substitute collagraph with a drypoint on plexi-glass\, that will be poss
 ible too!\n\nAll materials included.\n\n----------------------------------
