SUMMARY:Viscosity Printmaking (NPS)
DESCRIPTION:4 Fridays\nJanuary 10 \,17\, 24\, 31\n6:00-8:30 pm\n\nAges 16+\
n\nViscosity is a multi-color printmaking technique\, also known as “sim
ultaneous color printing\,” where one can manipulate inks to be of diffe
rent thickness and fluidity with additives such as oils or magnesium carbo
nate. This creates a resistance in some inks and allows all colors to be a
chieved on a single plate. One can use elements of intaglio or relief prin
ting on their matrix.\n\nJoin us in this introductory 4 day workshop where
students will learn various methods of viscosity printing using collagrap
h or plexiglass plates. Students will create plates from found materials (
ex: string\, tapes\, plants\, contact paper\, etc.) and learn to coat thei
r plates using inks of different viscosity. Students will learn about the
many possibilities viscosity printing can offer including ghost prints\, l
evitation marks or as Kathy Caraccio calls it “blurries.” If students
wish to substitute collagraph with a drypoint on plexi-glass\, that will b
 e possible too!\n\nAll materials included.\n\n----------------------------
------------\n\nPlease register at least a week in advance to guarantee yo
ur spot. Scholarship availability closes 2 weeks prior to the start of cla
 ss.\n\n-----------------------------------------\n\nWe believe in access t
o art education for all. It takes the whole community to generate the equi
ty our pay-what-you-can tuition generates. Behind the scenes\, we work to
bridge the financial gap between what our students can pay and what we nee
d to sustain our programs. Please consider carefully before you use our di
 scount codes.\n\nScholarship Codes:\nFor 25% discount use code "25OFF"\nFo
