Long before the industrialization of paint and ink, artists around the world found and made their own materials. This class, through responsible foraging practices, will give students an introduction to the world of pigments that can be found in our backyards and favorite parks. For this two day workshop we will begin by meeting at the Pollinator Sanctuary at 81 Gross St (across from JFK elementary) where artist Ezra Heller will guide students on identifying plants that can be used for pigments. For our second workshop we will meet at the Neighborhood Print Studio, where our foraged materials will be processed into usable pigment, and then mulled into printing ink. Students will be able to take home any ink they make!

All materials provided. Open to all levels of experience.

October 5th: At 11 am we will all meet at the Pollinator Sanctuary, 81 Gross St, Kingston, NY (Across from JFK Elementary) Please do not park in the school parking lot. You can park on the street or at Hasbrouck Park and walk over.(Carpooling will be available. Reach out to Dilara@mkad.art)
