SUMMARY:The Librarians
DESCRIPTION:Librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democrac
y and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow
of ideas means control over communities.\n\nIn Texas\, the Krause List ta
rgets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories – triggering sweepi
ng book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalat
e\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meeti
ngs nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of White Christian Nationalis
m fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment\, threats\, an
d laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cr
y for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.\n\nJoin The Rosendale
Theatre for a special Book Banning and Freedom of Expression event featur
ing a timely screening of THE LIBRARIANS\, a powerful new film by acclaime
 d director Kim A. Snyder\, followed by a post-screening conversation with
 the filmmaker.\n\n“Filmmaker Kim A. Snyder’s illuminating documentary
 — offers a rattling look at coordinated efforts to ban books. More impor
tantly\, it introduces viewers to the everyday and increasingly vital hero
es pushing back.” — Variety\n\nAbout The Filmmaker\n\nKim A. Snyder is
an Academy Award® nominee and Peabody Award-winning Director / Producer
whose latest feature\, THE LIBRARIANS\, premiered at the 2025 Sundance Fil
m Festival and will release globally in late 2025. Her Oscar-nominated sho
rt DEATH BY NUMBERS\, co-created with gun-violence survivor Sam Fuentes\,
has won multiple awards. Snyder’s acclaimed films include US KIDS (Sunda
nce 2020)\, LESSONS FROM A SCHOOL SHOOTING (Netflix Original)\, and NEWTOW
N (Sundance 2016\, Peabody Award\, PBS). Her earlier work includes WELCOME
TO SHELBYVILLE (PBS) and I REMEMBER ME (Zeitgeist Films). She also associ
ate produced the Oscar-winning short TREVOR\, which spawned The Trevor Pro
ject. Snyder holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Johns
  Hopkins SAIS and lives in New York City.\n\n&nbsp\;
