Explore the ecology and natural history of our oak trees in the Mid- Hudson Valley. This hands on presentation will reference the recent book by Douglas W. Tallamy-The Nature of Oaks: The Rich Ecology of Our Most Essential Native Trees. We will look at some of the 16 species of oaks in New York State and their vital ecoservices to the forests of the Hudson Valley. Mr. Capelli, will field questions and advice concerning oak tree diseases, pathogens and climate change threats. There will be specimens of leaves and acorns to view and a discussion for their planting and care.
