Speak to the Earth is a free hiking program, which welcomes anyone from Kingston, NY and the surrounding communities. To earn a Speak to the Earth patch we ask you to commit to completing 4 easy field trips (which can be done in either session). It is fine to do only a few trips. This program is free and will focus on hiking safety, plants and local geology, wildlife signs and nature in your backyard.
The final field trip of session 2 will be in your own local neighborhood (or close by). The purpose is to discover the wild nature that exists right where you live. Your experience from the previous 3 field trips will enable you to see your neighborhood in a different way- as part of a larger natural environment.
We will meet at 10:00am at the Forsyth Nature Center, 157 Lucas Ave Kingston, NY 12401 and will return at 1:00pm. We ask participants to please wear masks, bring water, hat, bug spray, sunscreen and a snack. All participant MUST wear closed toed shoes, sneakers are ok but hiking boots are even better!
Space is limited so sign up now!
