DESCRIPTION:Spaghetti Eastern Music is the genre-leaping solo project of Hu
 dson Valley-based guitarist/keyboardist Sal Cataldi. Spaghetti Eastern Mus
 ic marries funky\, acid jazz-fueled guitar instrumentals and ambient sound
 scapes with bare-bones acoustic ballads straight out of the Nick Drake sch
 ool.  Cataldi debuted the project with the critically acclaimed 2016 albu
 m\, “Sketches of Spam\,” followed by several EPs and singles. The New 
 York Times says Cataldi “has a beat unmistakably his own” while Time O
 ut New York praises his "delicate guitar work and the hauntingly moody atm
 osphere he conjures.” Called “beautiful and unique” by WFUV’s Mixe
 d Bag and “charmingly melodic and off-center” by WFMU.  Hudson Valley
  One has called Spaghetti Eastern “part Sergio Leone fever dream\, part 
 Ravi Shankar raga\, a whirling dervish of musical creation… a must-see.
 ” Chronogram Magazine called his music “cool\, melodic\, inspired and 
 transcendent\, a wave of sonic warmth and light.” Psychedelic Baby Magaz
 ine labels it “the perfect sonic tonic for these troubled times.” Cat
 aldi is also a member of the ambient guitar duo Guitars A Go Go\, the poet
 ry/music project Vapor Vespers and the psych/surf quartet\, Spaceheater. 
  He is also a contributing writer on music to The New York Times\, Rollin
 g Stone\, PopMatters\, InsideOut Upstate NY and NYSMusic. He is also the h
 ost of Reading Is Funktamental\, a monthly show on WGXC 90.7 FM where he i
 nterviews authors of books about music\, including some famous musicians.
