Sandra Belitza-Vazquez – A World of Contrasts
A World of Contrasts by Sandra Belitza-Vazquez
OPENING RECEPTION SATURDAY, JUNE 3, from 3 to 5pm
“A World of Contrasts” will highlight some of my best wildlife photographs taken in Africa
and Brazil, several of my images of the Atlixcayotl Dance Festival in Puebla, Mexico,
and some of my most beloved black and white photographs from the tropical forest of
Veracruz, Mexico, taken during three months of fieldwork in Montepio for my MA in
Anthropology. I strive to show the need to conserve the natural world and appreciate
the lives of all that share this planet through my photographs of endangered animals.
For ten years, I documented an indigenous dance festival in Atlixco, near my home in
Puebla. My book about the festival, Huei Atlixcayotl – The Art of the Gaze, will be
published in August 2023 by the Cultural Department of the State of Puebla.
I share, through my photographs, the beauty and wonder of the world I see while
exploring the global community. My images reveal the inherent perfection of nature and
the gamut of human emotions. A click of my shutter records a moment that preserves a
memory of my exploration.
