Rising Voices on Main Street is a new concert series produced by Fre Atlast. It features local talent and visiting performers with links to the Hudson Valley. We are dedicated to fill the musical gap left by the closing of the beloved Rosendale Cafe. We follow in their footsteps to give local musicians an opportunity to share their artistic talents.
Barely Lace
Annie Roland and Carrie Chapman are Barely Lace. Since the 80’s they have woven their voices together in a style they call acoustic trance. Focusing on Original Compositions, they also interpret traditional and seasonal European ballads as well as some Contemporary Covers. in performance they frequently include accompaniment from other musicians, and for this concert, Carrie and Anne will be joined by Rusty Boris and David Budd.
The B2’s
The B2’s are a Community Voice Ensemble founded and directed by Musician, Composer, Choral Director and Songleader Debbie Lan. They have performed at many local venues and events, such as Unison Arts Center, The Stone Ridge Library Fair, The Rosendale Street Festival, The Rail Trail Cafe, Mohonk Mountain House Music Week and The Rosendale Farmers Market. The B2’s sing a variety of original arrangements of uplifting, joyful and timely songs.
Gus Mancini and the Sonic Soul Band
The Sonic Soul Band is well noted for honoring the Art of ‘In The Moment Improvisations’. World class musicians, including Will Reinke (drums), Ted Orr (guitar), Rick Warren (guitar), Rusty Boris (bass), Caru Thompson (shekere), Melissa Lavaglio (congas), Fre Atlast (cahon) and The Sultan (Gus Mancini), on saxophone, synth and keyboards.
Drawing on influences from Monk to Funk, the Sonic Soul Band create spellbinding sonic landscapes of melodies and pulsating rhythms. From tender saxophone, to popping funk bottoms, ever soaring guitar energy, vivid melodies, and grounded by a solid beat, these musical layers delightfully unfold seamlessly. One can dance or just listen through the whole experience.
