Ribbon Cutting and Dedication of the New River Pavilion and Trail at Sojourner Truth State Park
Scenic Hudson, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission partnered to build the new features at the former barge dock/platform. The project is highlighted by an ADA accessible trail from the Hudson River Brickyard Trail, a 2,000-square-foot shade pavilion, a spacious plaza and resurfaced platform at the river’s edge, benches, picnic tables, and bike racks. Beautiful bilingual signs tell the story of the river and the site’s history. Newly planted native trees, shrubs and grasses give nature a boost in recovering from the site’s industrial past. Come see what it’s all about!
