SUMMARY:Outbreath: Somatics\, Artmaking and Impermanence
DESCRIPTION:Outbreath is a weekend immersion led by the core team of WildHe
art\, based on our core mission – to ignite culture shift through the in
tersection of artmaking and embodiment. Through an embodied engagement wit
h the creative process\, we awaken fresh responsiveness to the realities o
f our time. What becomes possible when we consciously create\, as a channe
l for love and freedom?\n\nTogether\, we will immerse ourselves in somatic
explorations of embodied anatomy\, sensory awareness\, partner/self touch
\, movement\, and song. Our embodied practices will usher us into artmakin
g from a place of presence. You are invited to bring any project that you
’re already working on and eager to develop\, or come with nothing and s
ee what emerges in the moment. At the end of the weekend\, we will share o
ur creations in community\, free from judgment.\n\nIn alignment with the s
eason of late fall\, we will begin with the outbreath: letting go\; the sm
all “d” deaths in everyday life\; impermanence. What happens when we a
llow ourselves to ride our breath all the way to the very end of the outbr
eath? What is the felt experience? How does it move? What happens next? We
will hold these questions together\, not to find an answer\, but simply t
o be in inquiry together\, with our bodies and our art.\n\nThe flow of our
weekend will begin on Friday evening with a potluck intro circle followed
by an opening ceremony. This is our time to land together as a community
for the weekend\, share our hearts and aspirations\, and find collective g
round within creative ceremony. Saturday and Sunday mornings will consist
of gentle embodiment practice\, building into more dynamic movement. After
lunch\, we will dive into a creative prompt and creative practice. Saturd
ay evening includes a special night of cooking and eating together in a cr
eative culinary experience led by WildHeart’s in-house kitchen witch\, N
iki. You can look forward to learning new things about the food you are cr
eating\, cooking with intention\, and eating to feed more than just your b
ody. Sunday evening will conclude with an artshare and a closing ceremony.
 \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nMore about the practices\n\nEmbodied anatomy sessions\nHere
we will learn about anatomy and be guided to feel and sense our anatomy f
rom within. Self and partner touch\, somatic movement\, and vocalization w
ill be offered as methods for entering into your inner experience. Drawing
inspiration from Body-Mind Centering®\, we will learn to orient toward c
ertain body systems\, noticing what information is alive there and uncover
ing deeper body intelligence.\n\nMovement\nEach day will move our bodies f
or pleasure and joy! You can look forward to dynamic\, life-filled movemen
t each morning before lunch to add energy and enlivenment to your day. All
movement guidance will be accessible for all bodies and will encourage pr
esent attunement to what is needed in the moment.\n\nSinging\nWe will sing
\, sing\, sing! You do not have to be a “singer.” We will bring our vo
ices together\, sometimes improvisationally and sometimes in song\, to fin
d the inherent rightness in singing together. May we live in harmony—lit
erally!\n\nArtmaking\nWe begin with a short creative prompt. As many maker
s know\, sometimes time to create can land you in an abyss of lack of insp
iration. The creative prompts will offer a specific direction to begin\, w
hich you can then unfold and follow—or depart from entirely and move tow
ard something different. Feel free to bring a project you are developing\,
or choose to create spontaneously in the moment. We’ll take a moment at
the end of our retreat to share our creations with one another.
