NICK GIANNI’S EVOLUTION ENSEMBLE
Nick Gianni’s Evolution Ensemble is a group of talented musicians who have developed a unique sound influenced by Downtown NYC’s vibrant music scene. They have honed their skills at Nublu, Ave C’s late-night hotspot. For their new album, the band added synthesizers, congas, percussion, and electronic drums to replace the piano. The group’s veteran horn members, Matt Lavelle, Welf Dorr, and Mike Irwin, contribute to the excitement, creating a sound reminiscent of an 80’s club vibe with elements of P-Funk, Sun Ra, and Fela.
Together, the members of Evolution Ensemble have performed at several concert venues, including the Nublu Jazz Festival, Red Hook Jazz Festival, Jibber Jazz, River to River Festival, Willisau Jazz Festival, and Central Park Summerstage.
Critics have praised Nick Gianni’s Evolution Ensemble for their experimental sound that incorporates all the elements of modern ‘nu Jazz’ with Afro-Beat/Funk and electro beats. According to SoulDish.com, “they are upbeat and experimental yet rooted in traditional worldbeat rhythms.” Cadence Magazine describes Gianni’s horn as “pouring emotion like hot poetry on perfumed stationary,” and Newsday has praised the band’s debut release as floating by effortlessly like the sound of Gianni’s flute and the various horns in play.

A full dinner menu prepared by Chef Turbo is available every Friday night and includes entrees such as The Globe Burger, buttermilk fried chicken, salisbury steak, mixed microgreens with red cabbage slaw, veggie or pork potstickers with a super baked potato served in a butternut boat, chicken quesadillas, breaded cools fried shrimp with cabbage and green bean casserole, cauliflower served with collard greens, tri-colorod quinoa and honeyed carrots, seafood or spinach & mushroom ravioli in vour choice of cream or red sauce, eggplant rollatini stuffed with spinach and cheddar bechamel and a baked sweet potato side.
